The metropolitan Perth and South West region operates in a competitive, service-rich environment with a dense pharmacy network centred on the city and extending through Mandurah, Bunbury, and Busselton. The Pilbara and Kimberley present a completely different operating context - pharmacies in towns like Karratha, Port Hedland, and Broome serve large transient workforces alongside permanent residents, often with higher-than-average script volumes and stronger demand for clinical services. Pharmacy premises approvals in WA are administered by the Pharmacy Registration Board of Western Australia under the state's own Pharmacy Act 2010, with its own floor plan submission and inspection requirements independent of other states.
