Albany is the main city of the Great Southern region, situated on King George Sound approximately 410 kilometres south of Perth. It is one of Australia's oldest settlements and has significant ANZAC heritage as the departure point for Australian and New Zealand troops in World War One. Albany Health Campus is the main facility for the region. The city has a significant and growing retiree population attracted by the mild climate and coastal environment, alongside an agricultural economy based on wool, beef, and viticulture.
