Wonthaggi is the main town of the Bass Coast Shire, about 130 kilometres southeast of Melbourne and within the outer commuter zone of the metropolitan fringe. Bass Coast Health operates the Wonthaggi District Hospital. The Bass Coast's residential base has grown steadily as Melbourne's commuter corridor has extended south - sea change migration and commuter demand have both contributed to new pharmacy activity in the area, with new community pharmacies responding to greenfield development in surrounding residential estates. Wonthaggi's proximity to Phillip Island adds a seasonal tourism layer to local pharmacy demand during summer and the tourist season. Being within two hours of Melbourne means site visits from our studio are feasible for all stages of the project.
